It is also said that the name Kadakkavoor was derived from the phrase "Kadakkiratukku Rompa Kastehamana Oor", which was an impenetrable village due to the presence of the Vamanapuram River on one side, the Anchuthengu Lake on the other, and the dense forest in the Palamkonam area on the other side. Kadakkavoor Panchayat came into existence in its present form in 1974. Before that, it was known as Kadakkavoor Village Affiliate with Anchuthengu as its headquarters. Following the division of the panchayat, the Anchuthengu area was left and Kadakkavoor Panchayat was formed by incorporating some parts of the Vakkom area. History of Grama Panchayat

This land, which was part of the princely state of Venad, has a mixed culture that combines the Tamil culture of the Tamil Brahmin communities who settled in this land and the Sinhala culture of those who came from Ceylon for coconut cultivation. Cultural centers like Kalidasa Library, Mahatma Gandhi Recreation Club, Jawahar Smaraka Library, and Sree Narayana Vilasam Library are functioning in various parts of the panchayat. Among these, Kalidasa Library stands out due to its age and the richness of its book collection. This library has more than 8000 books. Nrityakalarangam, the only publication related to dance in Kerala, is published from this panchayat. The professional drama troupe in Kerala started from Kadakkavoor.
